چکیده
Abstract The recent success of reusable launchers has become a driving force for sustainable launch technologies. An innovative approach proposed by DLR, involves winged rocket stages captured mid air and towed back to the site an aircraft. This recovery concept known as ‘In-Air Capturing (IAC)’, shows potential substantial cost reduction, when compared existing return modes. In light Horizon 2020 project FALCon, full-scale simulations sub-scale flight testing were carried out further development technology. paper summarizes studies performed within FALCon. test cases are introduced simulation framework analysis trajectories is presented. Then, IAC maneuver analyzed through trajectory simulations. Major external disturbances coming from wake aircraft flexibility rope connecting stage (after capture) also addressed.

Generic Simulation Models of Reusable Launch Vehicles
Analyzing systems by means of simulation is necessarily a time consuming process. This becomes even more pronounced when models of multiple systems must be compared. In general, and even more so in today’s fast-paced environment, competitive pressure does not allow for waiting on the results of a lengthy analysis. That competitive pressure also makes it more imperative that the processing perfo...
متن کاملDeveloping Safety-critical Software Requirements for Commercial Reusable Launch Vehicles
A number of inventors and entrepreneurs are currently attempting to develop and commercially operate reusable launch vehicles to carry voluntary participants into space. To reduce the risk to the public in the operation of these vehicles, a launch vehicle operator typically performs analyses to identify safety measures and develop safety requirements. The focus of these safety efforts has histo...

After an effector failure, it is assumed that the inner-closed-loop system utilizes a reconfigurable control algorithm to recover nominal maneuvering capabilities to the extent possible. However, nominal performance will typically not b...
متن کاملLimited Authority Adaptive Flight Control for Reusable Launch Vehicles
In the application of adaptive flight control, significant issues arise due to limitations in the plant inputs, such as: actuator displacement limits, actuator rate limits, linear input dynamics, and time delay. A method is introduced that allows an adaptive law to be designed for the system without these input characteristics, and then to be applied to the system with these characteristics, wi...
متن کاملDefining Support Requirements During Conceptual Design of Reusable Launch Vehicles
Current methods for defining the operational support requirements of new systems are data intensive and require significant design information. Methods are being developed to aid in the analysis process of defining support requirements for new launch vehicles during their conceptual design phase that work with the level of information available during this phase. These methods will provide supp...
